Who would have thought that it would be possible to get rid of heartburn by taking supplements, without heartburn medication? Before I tell you what the best supplements I have been taking for occasional heartburn and acid reflux or heartburn relief, I should tell you a story about how gastric acid has affected me and when it all started.
For as long as I can remember, at least over the last 20 years, I’ve always had this sensation in my throat, as if when I eat or drink, my throat feels like it’s closing up before I even swallow food or liquid. I would pace back and forth in the bathroom waiting until my stomach had settled, before going back to bed and trying to get to sleep. I’d dare not try to make myself sick as I felt that would be too painful.
Then when I’d finally get up to get ready for work, I’d go to have a drink of water and my throat would close up. At least that’s what it feels like. Same thing when eating breakfast. At first, I put that down to eating too fast or not chewing my food properly. Little did I know that this was happening because I had too much stomach acid in my stomach. I never thought that was a ‘thing’.

About four years ago I was eating my dinner late on a Saturday night. I’d had a few drinks while listening to music, and then just before bed, I decided I had better have something to eat. Not a good idea at all, I know! I was in a hurry, or hungry, or probably both, when all of a sudden I found myself choking on a piece of steak. You’re probably thinking this is common and you’re right. I had struggled with swallowing moments before as I felt like my esophagus was clamming up. Just like it was actually blocking off completely.
All I could do was breathe. I couldn’t even swallow my own saliva. I couldn’t clear my throat at all. I eventually took myself to the hospital early the next morning. By this time that piece of steak had been stuck in my throat for about 10 hours! I was lucky really, when I look back on those few hours, because although I couldn’t swallow anything at all, (I had to keep spitting out my saliva), at least I could still breathe and talk.
Long story short, I was admitted to the hospital, and the piece of stake was pushed down into my stomach. End of story, or so I thought. The surgeon said that there was a small tear and scarring on my esophagus. So I had to return at a later date for a check-up.
The surgeon had asked me how the steak got stuck in my throat before performing the procedure, so I explained what happened with my throat feeling like it was closing up, etc. This time at the check-up he asked me if there had been any family history of this happening before. I said yes.
It turns out, that my Dad, uncle, and my grandmother all experienced the same thing over the years. My grandmother even had her esophagus surgically stretched, twice! I couldn’t believe what my Dad was telling me! Neither could the surgeon! He said he had never heard of so many family members experiencing the same thing.
Now you’re probably thinking, OK Dave, what does all of this have to do with acid reflux and heartburn? At this point, the surgeon prescribed me with some medication. He explained that when he cleared my throat he noticed an unusual amount of acid activity going on in my stomach. He said I’d most likely have to take medicine for the rest of my life and if I didn’t, things would get worse. Like indigestion or even heartburn.
I have to admit, I didn’t take the medication for long at all. I didn’t want to take pills to relieve heartburn for the rest of my life. I struggled to swallow the capsules so stopped taking them. I didn’t notice any relief at all after taking them for two months. I eventually began to pay the price over the next couple of years though.

Discovering An Acid Reflux Supplement Relief by Accident
To be honest, I wasn’t consciously looking for supplements for heartburn relief. I was interested in gut health and at the time had learned that many people were getting good results from apple cider vinegar for gut health. Although apple cider vinegar helped to increase my energy a little, after taking it for about three months, I was still experiencing heartburn symptoms.

As far as I’m concerned the best natural supplements for heartburn would be Kyani Sunrise or the complete Triangle of Health based on my own experience, to relieve acid reflux, and help with stomach pain for long-term use. My heartburn and indigestion is gone. I have also noted there have been no side effects at all either.
